Summary, etc Este libro analiza “Hamaca Paraguaya” (Paz Encina, 2006), primer film paraguayo realizado en 35 mm en casi treinta años y el primero hablado íntegramente en guaraní. La investigación analiza el texto fílmico, su relación con la identidad, la cultura y la historia paraguaya, así como la inscripción social del guaraní.

Al mismo tiempo, yuxtapone la notoria carencia institucional para el desarrollo del audiovisual en Paraguay, con la abundancia de instancias internacionales de apoyo al cine de autor. Reflexiona además sobre el relevante rol de los festivales en la producción y en la circulación del cine de autor contemporáneo.

Vista por micro-públicos en los más diversos rincones del Paraguay y el planeta, la película analizada, se convirtió en un acontecimiento cinematográfico que impulsó la producción audiovisual paraguaya.
